“For you, brethren, have been called to liberty;
only do not use liberty as an opportunity for the flesh,
but through love serve one another.

– Galatians 5:13

Meet Our Elders

The Elders are prayerfully elected to serve the Windsor Chapel family faithfully through Bible-based, Christ-centered leadership for an initial three-year term, followed by three one-year terms served consecutively before taking a sabbatical year and then beginning the process again.  Learn more about the current elders.

Tom & Kate Taylor
Tom & Kate TaylorElder
Tom and Kate have spent more than forty-five years building friendships, serving others, and encouraging people to grow in God’s grace.

Tom is a born and bred Jersey boy.  After some serious running, wandering, seeking for meaning in life, he heard the good news about Jesus, and within a short time was convinced he needed to surrender his future to Jesus and follow him.  College years in Indiana proved to be a time of getting to know God as Father, growing in faith, and receiving vision for life.

Coming back to NJ after college and meeting his wife Kate they began their life together with one heart to serve God, which they have been working towards for the last 45+ years.  Three grown sons, two lovely daughters-in-law, and three precious granddaughters keep life fun and challenging.

Tom’s heart is to see men grow in knowing God’s will and grace for their lives.  Now in the fourth quarter (no time to retire), days are focused on building friendships and helping people. Gardening, golf, and traveling all help him and Kate stay young and fruitful.

Ken & Cindy Bills
Ken & Cindy BillsElder
Ken and Cindy have walked together in God’s grace for more than thirty-five years and faithfully serve through worship, teaching, and ministry.

Ken sees his life as an unfolding of God’s grace from beginning to end.  Looking back, he can see God taking the initiative to call him from his earliest years.  Ken’s childhood beliefs gradually became an adult faith as God continued to lead him into a fuller trust in Jesus as both his Lord and his Savior during high school and college. And since then, God has continued to call Ken into a fuller and richer understanding and experience of God’s inexhaustible, unfathomable grace.

Ken met his future wife, Cindy, at a college Christian fellowship, and they have enjoyed serving and growing in the Lord as husband and wife, partners, and best friends for more than thirty-five years.  Together, they have experienced the joys and trials of parenting three children.  They love animals, and their lives are enriched by their Labradoodle and two Cornish Rex cats.  Better yet, they are now doting grandparents to two grandsons and a granddaughter.  Cindy and Ken feel especially privileged when they are able to partner in ministry, especially teaching.

Ken loves worshiping the Lord through song, and he plays guitar and leads Windsor Chapel’s worship team.  He believes that as we come before the Lord in worship, the Lord meets us in a unique way that can speak to our hearts and change us from the inside out.

Ken’s favorite Bible verse is from the gospel of John: “And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.”  In a world filled with lies and errors, prejudice, selfishness, greed and hatred, Ken believes that Windsor Chapel, at its best, is a place where God’s truth and grace, mercy, and love as embodied in Jesus are available to every person.

Ed & Barbara McQueenElder (on sabbatical)
Ed and Barbara have faithfully followed God’s call in missions, family life, and service at Windsor Chapel since 2008.

Ed and Barbara have been part of the Windsor Chapel church family since 2008. Ed became a Christian during college, and served on the missions field in Peru after graduating. Barbara and Ed met while serving together in Peru and subsequently moved to NJ. They are blessed with a large family, and enjoy road trips, watching their children’s athletics events, and serving at Windsor Chapel.

One of Ed’s favorite Bible verses is Acts 20:24, “However, I consider my life worth nothing to me; my only aim is to finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me—the task of testifying to the good news of God’s grace.”

Darrell & Bridget Bernheisel
Darrell & Bridget BernheiselElder
Darrell and Bridget seek to encourage others and point people to Christ through genuine relationships and a lifelong journey of faith.

Darrell and Bridget have shared an incredible journey together: married for over 27 years and partners for nearly 35, having first started dating as high school juniors. Over the decades, they’ve grown as companions, friends, and steadfast supporters of each other’s dreams. Their story began in the small town of Carlisle, PA and has taken them across the country, with stops in New York, NY; St. Louis, MO; Charlotte, NC; Bloomington, IN; Hoboken, NJ; and finally West Windsor, NJ, where they’ve called home for 22 years.

Darrell felt the Lord’s presence early in life and accepted Christ during his elementary school years. Yet it wasn’t until becoming a father that he and Bridget chose to publicly affirm their faith, being baptized together in a Pennsylvania river at age 32. Parenthood deepened their understanding of grace and inspired them to live boldly in their faith. Despite walking with the Lord for many years, Darrell humbly considers himself a lifelong learner, approaching his spiritual journey with curiosity and openness. He draws strength from encouraging and uplifting others, especially during challenging seasons.

Together, Darrell and Bridget have been blessed with four children, Olivia, Ella, Thor, and Eva, and a lovable (and delightfully silly) French Bulldog named Brooklyn. Darrell enjoys working out, skiing, and cheering on his favorite college football team. Bridget is passionate about thrift shopping and runs a successful online resale business.
